Hello everyone! In anticipation of the upcoming release of Tite Kubo's new manga we have opened up a designated section for Burn the Witch. The One Piece, Naruto and Fairy Tail Sections are now all under one umbrella in the updated Anime and Manga Section.
The BA Staff.
So, all I've read this week is Dr. Stone and Black Clover. I'll update once KnY and Neverland hits, but so far, I'd rank Dr. Stone over Black Clover, even though I enjoyed both. Dr. Stone gave us more insight into the MC, plus a more dramatic and impactful scenario. That cliffhanger was also bonkers.
One Piece, Boku No Hero Academia, and The Tower Of God have the most going for them this week in terms of characterization and world building. One Piece's is especially amazing because of the hype. Black Clover's chapter is better than Magi's chapter this week because Magi's chapter is somewhat more repetitive.
One Piece > Boku No Hero Academia slightly > The Tower Of God slightly > Black Clover >>>> Magi this week in my opinion. A very good Manga week overall.
I forgot to post my list for the previous week, so here it is:
~ Boku no Hero Academia 137 > One Piece 865 > The Promised Neverland 38 > Gintama 634 > Dr. Stone 10 > Fairy Tail 535.
~ BNHA had a very good, if not great set-up chapter before the action. It provided good lessons too.
~ OP was just fantastic (the end itself would've been enough to make it great).
~ TPN had a good start of a new arc which is why I rated it a bit lower than some of its previous chapters.
~ Gintama, although in the lower part of my list has been very good; it's a special series, so even if some chapters aren't fantastic, they're still great and special in their own way.
~ Dr. Stone, although it came with an important flashback, wasn't as well executed as I thought it would've been. It was important and emotional, but the fragmentation of the flashback could've been done better.
~ FT had a very simple action centered chapter that didn't manage contribute to just about anything.
Hopefully I'll post the next one on time (Sunday).
I see, thanks. I'll list the chapters from last week since not everything from this week is released yet.
One Piece 865 > We can't Study 14 > Yuragi Inn's Yuuna san 61> Tokyo Ghoul ;re 124 > Fairy Tail 535 > Ginama 634> Black Clover 109
One Piece delivered one of the best chapters in this arc in my opinion. It remind me of Marinefort with all that stuff going on at the same place. Study caught me off guard with it's last page but I won't spoil things here. Fairy Tail and Gintama both had the same problem this week. It's dragging things out a little too much, especially Gintama but it's art is amazing as ever so I've still loved to read it. Same with Fairy Tail, some flashy action scenes. Black Clover was not that great but it's understandable since it's in training arc mode, which is good for the series because sometimes it dives from battlefield to battlefield without breather.
I understand why Gintama is low on your list, Melody-, but I'm biased to Gintama so it will always be good even if it's an average chapter or if it's dragging things out. Gintama is gearing up and I'm sure that once the real action starts and main characters get individual or tag team fights it'll be back on its stellar level.
Tastes are different, but I personally would never rank Fairy Tail 535 above Gintama 634.
Both chapters for Boku No Hero Academia and The Tower Of God are good but The Tower Of God's chapter has more story driven content with Urek Mazino's awesome arrival. Boku No Hero Academia has some cool character introductions which gives it's chapter the edge over Black Clover's chapter. Black Clover's chapter is more entertaining than the other chapters. Fairy Tail's chapter is the most underwhelming out of those chapters.
The Tower Of God slightly > Boku No Hero Academia slightly > Black Clover slightly > The Promised Neverland >>>> Nanatsu No Taizai > Fairy Tail this week in my opinion. A good Manga week overall.
Like the real rankings too, Gintama is always a wild card to me. Some chapters are amazing or really funny and then again there are some ok chapters following it. If judged by series I would put Gintama before Fairy Tail but I tried to be objective and only rank the chapters here. Funny thing is I started both around the same time, 2008.
