'Dignified? But this guy just seems normal to me.' Lilac looked away from Alex and back down to Raijo, sleeping peacefully despite laying on the cold tile floor. However, he didn't have much choice but to take Alex's word for it, since he'd never met another Shinigami aside from Raijo before today, so he really had nothing to compare him to.

As Alex began to move the Shinigami closer to the wall, the young Quincy moved around and gently took hold of Raijo's other arm, helping to carefully move him out of the middle of the floor. Once finished, he gently laid the Shinigami's arm at his side, and his head immediately snapped up as Alex instructed him to go and find a cushion for Raijo's head.

“Huh? Where would I find a-” His question was abruptly ended as Nathaniel suddenly approached them all.

Nathaniel Niklaus

Nathaniel had been listening to the entire exchange between his boss and the Shinigami from the sidelines, waiting to make sure that there was no immediate threat from the newcomer. Apparently, they had gotten quite lucky and the Shinigami that had arrived seemed to be peaceful enough that Nathaniel didn't believe they were in any sort of danger from him, although he noted that Alex still remained cautious, as was her usual nature.

Upon hearing the Shinigami's request for warm milk, and witnessing Raijo's subsequent fainting spell (or did the man truly just fall asleep out of the blue?), and then Alex's request for a pillow, the young man swiftly moved into action. Only a moment later, he emerged from the kitchen in back and approached Alex and Lilac, stopping just long enough to set the glass of milk down on a nearby table before he slowly knelt down and gently removed the small pillow that had been tucked under his other arm, placing it carefully underneath the Shinigami's raven-haired head.

Grimacing somewhat, he was careful to avoid actually touching the sleeping man, more because he was apprehensive of touch and less because he was actually afraid of any form of retaliation from Raijo, as he finished the task of essentially tucking in a sleeping Shinigami.

“Don't worry, Lilac-kun, I've got it,” he said, waving away the young Quincy's concern about finding cushions and the like. “This pillow was sitting on one of the chairs in back. I hope you don't mind that I borrowed it for this, Alex,” he continued, turning a blue gaze to Alex.

'Although, we should probably disinfect it later, just in case.'

“If that's all you guys needed, um, I guess I'm going back to the kitchen then,” he paused briefly, glancing around the rather deserted diner, “even though we don't seem to be that busy, despite that it's lunch time and there should have been a major rush by now. That's odd...I wonder why we haven't been trampled under foot yet.”

Alex nodded her thanks at Nate, as the other man appeared with a relatively soft cushion for their impromptu patient.

It was anyone's guess when he'd wake up again, and honestly it would not be a good look for anyone if another (more healthy) Death God walked past. The Quincy bit her tongue on some choice swearwords.

Nathaniel Niklaus said:

That's odd...I wonder why we haven't been trampled under foot yet.”
Now that Nate mentioned it... the blonde looked around to see that her cafe was almost empty save for a couple of Quincy and a fainted Death God.

"Maybe them regulars can sense tha' buncha magic people here, and maybe they ain't gonna come here today." Alex responded, shrugging. While she didn't actually know how the regular humans sensed supernatural things that they could not see, some of them seemed to be rather sensitive to such things and stayed away instinctively.

Anyhow, that was something that food businesses had learnt to adapt around. Some days the business could run out of supplies because it was just so busy, and some days it was really quiet. And on one occasion, the cafe had been struck by a list of highly localised 'natural' disasters...

"If ya wanna have lunch now, go 'head. Don't wait up, 'kay?"

... Maybe she was already sensing for more trouble (Death God passersby, or other supernatural visitors) in case of another list of 'natural' disasters... Alex could not help but feel a prickly sense in the distance.

"Am goin' outside fer a bit, if anyone's lookin' fer me, 'kay?" She muttered, before straightening her coat and heading outside.

During his efforts to prepare for the expected and yet completely absent lunch rush, Nathaniel had forgotten all about his own lunch break; although, he wasn't super hungry because he'd been sharing a bowl of cheesy fries with the young Quincy, Lilac, several minutes earlier until their unexpected Shinigami guest had arrived. But now that Alex had reminded him of it, and they weren't busy at all, he had to admit to himself that a break would be nice right about now.

Nathaniel paused in his walk back to the kitchen, and half-turned to look back at Alex just as the woman rose to her feet and began straightening her coat. He opened his mouth and was just about to ask her if she wanted to join him on the break so that they could share a plate of fries and some drinks, but he quickly closed his mouth again as Alex spoke first, mentioning that she was heading outside for a moment. No sooner had she said it than he, too, began to sense the slightest unusual brush of foreign energy against his senses.

There was something...not human, somewhere outside the diner.

Alex made her way to the door and stepped outside. Nathaniel glanced back, noticing that young Lilac was just about to follow her – apparently, he had sensed the same foreign energy, and he wanted to assist in a fight if there was one to be had. Quickly moving forward, he managed to catch Lilac by the arm and keep him from going toward the door.

“No, wait, hang on a second, Lilac-kun,” he murmured, keeping his voice low even though the only other person inside the diner was the sleeping Shinigami. “Please, let Alex handle this; she's incredibly strong, even for a Quincy. Instead, could I please ask you to take up a position on the roof of the diner and help me defend it? This place was only just rebuilt, and Alex would be furious if it was demolished in another battle so soon.”

Lilac turned mismatched eyes up at him, but the teenager merely nodded his head in agreement and didn't offer up any form of protest; apparently, he knew when it was time to be serious.

Nathaniel released the boy's arm, and Lilac quickly disappeared through the diner's front door. Spreading out his senses, Nathaniel was quick to sense that the young Quincy had made an easy ascension to the roof, and was now readying himself to defend it – the taste of Quincy energy was fast becoming a rather familiar one for him.

Satisfied that the outside of the diner was covered, the cook nodded once to himself and was just about to return to the kitchen to fetch his own sword (which Alex insisted he hide behind the counter while he was on duty), when suddenly he heard a sound...a ring-tone for a cellphone? Nathaniel blinked, turning his head back only to find that the Shinigami was now awake as well, and from what he could tell, was now checking what appeared to be some kind of phone. The Shinigami sipped from the glass of milk Nathaniel had left for him, before suddenly spitting it out all over the diner's nice clean floor and immediately bolting to his feet.

In the very back of his mind, the cook silently hoped that the Shinigami would slip in his own spilled milk as he ran toward the front door, but no such luck. Heaving a rather irritated sigh, Nathaniel retrieved a cleaning cloth from the supply closet in the back of the diner, making short work of cleaning up the mess before Alex came back; he especially didn't want her seeing such a mess left on the floor. Once he was finished with that, the young man was finally able to go back into the kitchen and retrieve his hidden sword.

Only a minute later, Nathaniel was standing behind the front counter, cleaning the empty glass he had served the milk in. While he may have appeared calm, he was carefully using his own senses to monitor the feel of things that were happening outside the diner walls. Should anyone actually happen to come inside – a customer wanting lunch – they would have received a bit of shock, for Nathaniel was openly wearing his sheathed sword at his hip, just in case the trouble he felt actually made its way to the diner and got past Lilac, who was playing the role of sentry on the roof.

'I wish I could have told Alex to be careful before she left,' Nathaniel thought to himself, sighing softly as he continued to wipe every last inch of the glass until it was sparkling clean.

(OOC: At this point, during the time of Flying Furry Ferrets of Doom, Lilac is guarding the Wolf from the roof, while Nathaniel is tending to things on the ground level. Just be aware that the diner is defended while Alex is away.)
