When I picture Gohara being serious about Christmas, I picture the Don Quixote Family having a hardcore Christmas dinner next to a Christmas tree (Sorry Gohara, because I don't know what you look like in real life, I am picturing you as your avatar). Sugar's Christmas present for everyone is a toy doll and every time Doflamigo takes a bite of his dinner he does his signature laugh.
Somehow, I think his avatar fits him perfectly. UltraGoharayamamototrollmode ( not that i think you're trolling, but it's funny Xd ) Who would have said such a joker lurks underneath that serious demenoar :p

And you know what? That's the best part. I love food. It's one of the best times to have a cheat day. Heck, several cheat days!
Meat for the meat god. :D Cookies for the cookie god. And all other stuff people eat for christmas xD

Oh what the hell, since this thread turned into a foodfest, you guys have any special recipes for Christmas? Like stuff you traditionaly eat or so.

:lmao the local shopping center was playing Christmas songs the day after Halloween.

I'm not sure how I feel about Christmas. On the one hand, this Christmas will be a sad one because it would have been my mother's 74th birthday. We're planning to take flowers to her grave on Christmas Day. On the other hand, it's a quiet time of reflection and a much-needed break from school.

Last year, my brother and I made homemade cookies and decorated them. I enjoyed that because my brother usually doesn't like to spend time in the kitchen because of his hands.

I think my all-time favorite Christmas present was an electric keyboard my family picked out for me while I was off at college. At the time, I had changed my second teaching field from music to English, but I still enjoyed practicing on my own terms. After riding 800 miles from college, seeing the keyboard playing in the middle of the living room was a true delight. Later on, I was able to use what I knew of that keyboard when I substituted for a music teacher.

For years, my family got me ornaments and other Coke bears paraphernalia. I don't collect Coke bears anymore, but the snow globe still sits on my shelf.

Whenever there's a special event (a birthday, an anniversary, whatever), my mom makes her special spaghetti and fruit salad. It's no different every Christmas. We also bust out the ham/bacon/whatever meat that's lying around, along with a bunch of other deserts the neighbors gave us.

My brother and I also have our own special holiday traditions, which we do every year - he watches Die Hard and I watch Tokyo Godfathers. My parents are usually content with watching whatever Christmas special they're showing on TV - which means they're almost always stuck with reruns of The Grinch or that Muppets Christmas movie.

(Which isn't so bad, now that I think about it. Muppets rule.)

^ Oh, yes - thanks for a reminder - I should watch Tokyo Godfathers on Christmas! I watched it last time as well, with mother. It's amazing that she's not an anime fan, but loved it. :)

Fun fact:

Do you know all the facts of Christmas? Such facts as; 'X' is greek for Christ which originates from the greek letter 'Chi' in the greek alphabet. Do people actually believe they are taking out the 'christ' out of Christmas? No, they are ironically saying Christ whether they are believers or still intimidated by the word 'Christ' after all these years.

And it's time once again to vote for the mods' year-end virtual bonus. :elmo

We're going out to look at Christmas lights tonight, and I need some stamps to send Christmas cards. But I love beautiful cards. We used to have a Papyrus shop in our shopping center that sold cute polar bear cards. But now I have to order online if I want Papyrus. :sweat

Does anyone enjoy the Christmas programs and movies that start showing around this time of year?

And when did your local stores and other businesses start playing Christmas music? Our shopping center started on the day after Halloween. Ehhh? :headscratch

ah christmas is indeed approaching.........now.
this thread was started in mid-november, seriously?!

either way, christmas and presents it is.
well, to be honest I don't think much of christmas anymore, neither good nor bad it's just "meh". the most I'm looking forward to are the couple of days off from work. since growing up and joining the work force christmas has completely lost it's magic, unfortunately.

I remember as a child how I'd always look forward to christmas. the beautiful lights everywhere, the smells of cinnamon and other spices, the christmas cookies, the same old corny feel-good christmas movies each and every year. good times!

but now, the cookies are still there but since I'm weight conscious they're mostly ignored, the smells are still nice but noting special and can be found during the rest of the year easily enough if required, sure the lights and overall decorations are nice but after seeing it year after year it's more of ah "they're putting on christmas decorations up earlier each year" feeling.
yeah, the magic is gone and replaced with harsh realism. I guess it really has to do with being a child and once you're growing up you also notice how time moves really fast and christmas comes up fast every year.

as to the presents, well I do work and if I want something I simply buy it myself. in addition I wouldn't wish for something expensive which I couldn't afford myself. I mean my family isn't all that rich so how could I have such unreasonable demands? as such I'm mostly wishing for easily obtainable stuff like a gift card from my favorite book shop or staple things such as new pajamas, slippers, knit hats and so on. as said, I don't wish for really anything since I can simply buy everything on my own and then I get the stuff I really want. i.E if I were to wish for a bracelet or pendant I'd need to choose it myself or chances'd be big it wasn't to my liking. so better play safe with the book gift card.
hey, at least I'm extremely easy to satisfy for those wishing to give me anything, as boring as my wishes might be they're convenient.

best present......I got a nice pair of socks with elks sewn on the hem a few years ago and a new pair of earphones for my ipod when the old ones broke. I guess that's probably it.

of course I felt more joy from the presents received as kid but I can't remember them for the life of me.

all said and done I really don't wish to ruin anyone her/his christmas fun and joy since this is simply my uncaring attitude. I think it's really nice if you're still able to enjoy christmas even after growing up. holidays should be enjoyed and shouldn't be a mandatory social obligation.

as such, search for the easter egg and click my signature.
