It's was an amazing video.
I always wanted someone to make a video that will debunk Super Eyepatch Wolfs “Fall of Bleach”. Since that was the starting point of the Bleach Hate

I noticed the video title in Bleach Reddit and thought it is probably another one of the Bleach hate videos. I didn't bother with it but now that it has appeared here in BA, I watched it. I started this mainly out of a sense of obligation because I am a moderator and hate videos have no place here. I have no tolerance for Kubo bashing. But constructive criticism is very welcome. There is an important difference.

I was pleasantly surprised. This video is not what I expected at all. This IS constructive criticism with good arguments and well put together. It also shows a lot of information together with facts, some of them were new to me. I grinded my teeth at the first comments but quickly learned that this video is not about confirming them but the contrary. I kept watching and I can say, I liked it. I agree with most of what has been said.

I sometimes compared Bleach with an onion. Tite Kubo is a very skilled world builder. It is very complex. In order to take the audience with you, you have to introduce it carefully. I agree with the video creator, the first arc is the key, the foundation. It is first of all the death of Ichigo's mother and his encounter with Rukia. Rukia opened a new world for Ichigo. This happened in a lot of different ways. It also formed the key word, the key objective, something the video also shows very well - protect. It becomes the driving force in his life and runs like a red thread through the series. At one point it even brings him back from the dead.

Bleach is mainly written from Ichigo's perspective. We, the readers, learn about the Bleach world at the same pace as Ichigo does. At least most of the time. More and more layers of the onion are explored and Ichigo realizes more and more than certain things are not as they seemed to be.

As much as I like this video, the second red thread that runs through Bleach is no less important than the first one - the conflict between Shinigami and Quincies. It should have been explored from early on in this video as well. Ichigo's main objective to protect is becoming more complex the more is revealed about past and present of this conflict. Who is right? Who is wrong? There are a lot of grey areas and there are areas that have no obvious answers. To me this is one of the strengths Bleach has, which makes it so interesting and thought provoking.

At the same time Ichigo is learning more and more about himself, about his mixed heritage but also about who he is. Ichigo is growing throughout the series but as Rukia pointed out in the Fullbring arc, Ichigo nevertheless remained the same. Which is good but also dangerous. It makes Ichigo vulnerable to certain influences - a danger Uryuu noticed long ago but Ichigo never listened to him.

The Fullbring arc can be seen as the stepping stone into the last arc. My personal regret has always been that also Tite Kubo followed established story patterns and one of them is that the main battles have to be fought by the main character alone. Yes, others can help on the way as it should be but the key moments are not for others to share. Uryuu was only allowed to shine as a fighter when Ichigo was unable to see it. Instead of surprising the viewers that Uryuu has joined the Wandenreich and try to make us viewers wonder (some fell for it, I remember), much more should have been shown about his thoughts, his motives and explore this conflict further. But we know that Tite Kubo struggled badly with his health at this time and I believe this part was the main sacrifice in the story. I am sure that Tite Kubo had planned a much longer and more serious conflict between Ichigo and Uryuu that would have revealed a lot.

I don't think it was necessary to retell Bleach in all this detail. I was often tempted just to fast forward but was also determined to watch all of this video. I often wished that there was more exploration of the revelations in view of the big picture. The mentioning of the charm was a good addition. But the fight between Zaraki and Ichigo with the appearance of Zangetsu is perhaps even more important in view of Ichigo's part Quincy heritage. I remember, I wondered about that scene a lot when I watched it the first time. Now, in hindsight, it makes so much sense!

One part made me wonder and unless someone explains it to me I stick with my understanding: Ichigo did not use an Asauchi in early Bleach. He did not receive anything like this from the Shinigami but formed his sword out of his own soul. Being part Quincy makes this possible in connection with his Shinigami side. According to the Live Action Movie, Ichigo has a Shinigami soul. It is shown that Ichigo uses his body as a Gigai. This is one part where I disagree with what is said in the video.

I also don't think that White, the Hollow artificially created by Aizen and who moved into Ichigo after his mother's death, and Shirosaki (as I call the bleached version of Ichigo's inner hollow) are the same entity. As Shirosaki said, he can't allow Ichigo to die because this would also mean his death. Meaning that White will occupy Ichigo's body.

But these are minor points looking at the length of this impressive work. I especially enjoyed the last part of the video, the conclusion and personal thoughts. There is no way I could have said it any better!

Man, 'yuhwatch' bothers me. But at the same time, Yhwach is a completely indecipherable way of writing whatever it is meant to be. (Yuhabaha, according to the original purely phonetic pronunciations?) Since he outright states his name as being YHWH (pronounced to the best of my knowledge as 'yah way'), who knows. The phonetic pronounciation sounds like Jehovah but the written form resembled 'yah way' I feel sorry for the official translations.

It's pronounced U-Vaj. Or something like that for you. I'm a spanish speaker so putting it into words for english speakers might be tricky.

Just use the U and then Vaj as the germans say the words ending in CH. That deep gutural H sound. YHWH has many interpretations: Jehova being one but the closer and more ancient one being Yahweh. Yhwach is the name given by tite to the incarnation of YHWH inside the Bleach universe which is the Quincy king.

I am a native German speaker. I remember how the people here in BA who had Japanese knowledge were trying to make sense of the name. At some point someone theorized that Johann Bach is the basis of it which is a proper German name. This turned into Juhabach.

Yhwach always grated on me. I know that this is the official name Tite Kubo chose but I tend to use Bach or Juhabach.

Was I Close enough with my pronunciation of the name? I won't even try to make it sound "Yhwach" in Spanish because is ridiculous lol. What still triggers me even to this day is when people call him "Juha Bach". It's like the biggest romaji failure that stick to people. Look at One Piece, nobody is calling Laugh Tale Raftel anymore since the official name came out, but people kept calling Yhwach Juha Bach.

I really don't know what the "right" pronounciation is. I will find out if/when the last arc will be animated.

Because the name seems to be based on the German language, I also use a German pronounciation or more accurately a guess of what it could be like.

Tite Kubo likes to play with languages. My guess is that Yhwach is a combination of more than one element. What people prefer is to me a matter of taste. I don't think Bach or Juha Bach is actually wrong.

Oh no, you won't. Because you know how Japanese works haha. They will say "yuhabaha" but that doesn't make it right. Just like Harribel insn't Hariberu.

Well, Quincy are German-based mostly but Yhwach is really Hebrew.
